The 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift is now 10 percent more fuel efficient than the outgoing version returning an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure of 20.4 km/l on the petrol and 25.2 km/l on the diesel model.
Just days away from its official launch, the brochure for 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift has been leaked online revealing all the updates to the hatchback. With mild cosmetic updates and interior equipment upgrades, the new Swift has also been tuned to offer improved fuel efficiency over the outgoing model. The hatcback now returns an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 20.4 km/l on the petrol and 25.2 km/l on the diesel version as seen on the brochure, a whole 10 percent increase compared to the current Swift. The automaker has commenced accepting bookings for an amount of Rs. 10,000/-, while delivers are most likely to start early next month.
While exact changes to the engine are unknown yet, a revised compression ratio can be expected along with mild revision to the power output as well. The current model draws power from the 1.2-litre 4-cylinder K-Series petrol engine producing 87 PS and 114 Nm of torque, while the 1.3-litre 4-cylinder DDiS engine produces 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Both the models are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Speculations suggest that Maruti will also offer a 4-speed automatic on the petrol variant this time around.
In terms of changes, the new Swift facelift gets a revised front bumper with wider air intakes and new L-shaped brushed silver strips on the fog lamp enclosure. On the inside, there are plethora of new features including push-start button, keyless entry, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, updated audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, reverse parking sensors, ABS, EBD and a lot more on offer. Competing against the Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto Evo, Hyundai Elite i20 and the likes in the segment, the Swift facelift is expected to receive a marginal hike in prices over the current version.
