The 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift gets a updated chrome induced front fascia while changes to the rest of the crossover and interiors are minimal.
Expected to go on sale in the following weeks, here are the images of the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift completely undisguised revealing all the necessary details on the Indian automaker’s flagship offering. Launched in 2011, it is a good time for Mahindra to bring in the mid-life update on the XUV500 keeping the popular selling model fresh and new in the market. The changes though are restricted to the aesthetics and the crossover will continue with the existing mechanicals.
Speaking about the changes, the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift gets a revised front fascia that has taken a more premium route sporting a reworked grille with chrome inserts; revised headlight cluster with the new S-shaped LED daytime running lights and the L-shaped, chrome-induced fog lamp enclosures. The side profile remains the same, save for the new pattern alloy wheels, whereas the rear gets minimal changes and gets a chrome bar above the registration plate on the tailgate.
On the inside, the Mahindra XUV500 facelift has retained the existing layout, but the plastics and materials are said to be of better quality. The seats though will now be upholstered in the new beige shade for a more upmarket appeal. In addition, the XUV500 facelift has been spotted in this new purple shade which will likely be added to the colour palette by Mahindra. In terms of powertrain, the 2.2-litre diesel motor will continue to do duty producing 140 BHP and 330 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed transmission. Lower fuel consumption figures can be expected.
Like the outgoing version, the 2015 Mahindra XUV500 facelift will come in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options while one can also expect more features to be added to the crossover. While we couldn’t spot any badges, Mahindra is expected to launch the XUV500 in a diesel hybrid version that was showcased at the Auto Expo last year and could make its debut alongside this facelifted version.
