The top-end variant of the Honda Jazz will get 16-inch alloy wheels while the launch is expected by mid-2015. It will take on the Hyundai Elite i20.
With production commenced earlier this month, Honda Car India is gearing up to launch its next mass market offering the Jazz hatchback in the country. Making a comeback as a new generation model, the 2015 Jazz will be getting 16-inch alloy wheels on V variants as seen in this spy shot at the company’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. The VMT will be the range topping model on the hatchback and will come equipped with features like touchscreen infotainment system with navigation; Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity and much more.
Honda is looking to compete against the Hyundai Elite i20 with the new Jazz and will surely load it with several essentials on offer. The Jazz shares its underpinnings with the City sedan and will see a lot of local content gone in its production. The high levels of localisation are also expected to help the Japanese auto giant price the premium hatchback more effectively. Even Tata Motors launched the Bolt earlier this week at an attractive price completely equipped with all the essentials and we do expect Honda to come close to its rivals on the feature list.
Coming to performance, the Honda Jazz comes with a sorted chassis that offers good driving dynamics, while engine options will be the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel under the hood. Both the motors will come paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an automatic will be on offer with the petrol engine. The launch is expected sometime between March and June this year, while prices are expected to start around Rs. 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
