The street-fighter squad around the world has just gone +1 as Honda revealed the 2015 CB300F motorcycle that will be launched in the US by the end of the year. Based closely on the CBR300R quarter-litre offering; the street-fighter version sheds off the full fairing for minimalistic body fenders and certainly boasts of a great styling. Inspired from the CB500F, influences are visible on the headlight design and tank extensions that give the CB300F a big bike-like appeal.
The Honda CB300F comes with a low seat height of 780 mm that will make it easier to ride for short riders. The seating position is more upright, which is a big welcome for touring enthusiasts, while the rear set foot pegs and the wide handlebar will also aid in a comfortable riding position on the CB300F. The bike retains the LCD instrument cluster from the CBR300R and the part sharing extends to the exhaust, tail light, mudguards and the seats as well. The street-fighter motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 12.9-litres and uses the same steel diamond twin-spar frame and weights 158 kgs, 4 kgs lighter than its full-faired sibling.
The 2015 Honda CB300F borrows its powertrain from the CBR300R and is powered by the 286cc single-cylinder, 4-valve engine (a bored out version of the 249cc motor from the CBR250R) that produces 31 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 27 Nm of torque at 7250 RPM. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed transmission, while suspension duties comprise of 37 mm telescopic front forks and a 5-step, spring loaded monoshock setup at the rear. Stopping power on the Honda CB300F comes via a single 296 mm disc brake in the front and a 220 mm disc brake at the rear.
Scheduled to be launched by the end of this year, the Honda CB300F has been priced at £4299 (Rs. 4.44 lakhs) in the UK with ABS as standard. It will be available in red, black and HRC shades. In India though, Honda has not announced the arrival of the CB300F just yet. The Honda CBR300R is scheduled to be launched by the end of this year in the country and the CB300F could make it to our shores in 2015 or later. This Honda street-fighter motorcycle will be competing against the KTM Duke 390, Suzuki Inazuma 250 and the upcoming Mahindra Mojo 300 in the segment. Expect the bike to be priced at around Rs. 1.75 lakhs (ex-showroom), marginally lower than the CBR300R.
