The Maestro Edge is more powerful than the outgoing Maestro & looks edgier too

You read it first on MotorBeam. Making waves in the automatic two-wheeler space soon, Hero MotoCorp will be launching two new scooters on the 29th of September which includes the Maestro Edge and Duet 110cc models. While the company already sells the Maestro in the market, the Maestro Edge as the name goes is an edgier derivative based on the Dash concept and gets a chunk of improvements keeping it up with modern times. Now ahead of the official launch, MotorBeam has accessed the brochure for the Maestro Edge revealing all that you need to know about this Honda Activa rival.

The 2015 Hero Maestro Edge measures 1840 mm in length, 695 mm in width and 1190 mm in height. This makes the Edge longer and taller than the outgoing Maestro while the width is marginally less. The ground clearance remains the same at 155 mm, whereas the wheelbase is longer on the new Edge at 1265 mm (current Maestro has a 1240 mm wheelbase). Power on the new Maestro Edge comes from a 110.9cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 8.34 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.30 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, paired to a CVT transmission. The kerb weight stands at 110 kgs and gets a rather trendy looking exhaust.

The 2015 Hero Maestro Edge gets a telescopic front suspension setup and shock absorbers at the rear and rides on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres. Stopping performance comes from front and rear drum brakes, coupled with Hero’s Integrated Braking System (IBS). The instrument cluster is an analog-digital unit and gets service reminder as part of the tell tale lights. Offered in two variants namely LX and VX, the top-end Hero Maestro Edge comes loaded with a mobile charging socket (USB port), under seat luggage lamp and rear luggage hook as standard fitment, along with the side stand, magnet holder and sensor.

The accessories come in addition to other features including the external fuel filler, LED tail light cluster and a next gen immobiliser. The Hero Maestro Edge will be offered in seven colours – Pearl Silver White, Panther Black, Shooting Night Star, Candy Blazing Red, Techno Blue, Matt Vernier Grey and Matte Blue. While prices are still under wraps, one can expect the automaker to keep things competitive so expect the Maestro Edge to carry an asking price between Rs. 55,000-60,000/- (ex-showroom) for the base variant as it will locks horns with some very established rivals.
