The next generation Ford Figo has been spied in India. The 2015 Figo hatchback and compact sedan will be launched later this year with the sedan coming first.
Ford is readying the next generation Figo hatchback and sedan for the Indian market and trail production has already begun. The Ford Figo hatch is expected to hit the roads in mid-2015, while the compact sedan version will go on sale soon after if not together. Fresh images of the 2015 Ford Figo have emerged with minimal camouflage that reveals the styling of the hatchback. The new offering is based on the outgoing Figo’s platform but gets heavy changes inside out.
The Ford Figo test mule in pictures seems like a mid variant having black grille, door handles but alloy wheels, similar to the EcoSport Trend trim. There is a wide grille at the front with power bulges on the bonnet. On the side profile, the alloys look basic but the ORVMs get integrated blinkers and the B-pillar is black. At the rear, you’ll notice a roof integrated spoiler with a stop light, rear wiper and a heavily sculpted bumper.
Engine options for the next generation Ford Figo will include a 1.5-litre diesel engine, currently being used by the EcoSport and Fiesta. However, the oil burner could be de-tuned for the new compact offerings, producing around 75 BHP of power with 190 Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder EcoBoost turbo petrol is expected as well, in detuned form for the Figo twins. There will be a host of features on offer for seamless Smartphone connectivity and more convenience.
