The Chevrolet Cruze will be getting a very comprehensive update for the Chinese market while the Indian version already got minor cosmetic updates last month. Now, Chevrolet has given the Cruze another facelift and this model is meant for the North American market. The facelifted Cruze will be showcased at the New York International Auto Show later this week. The Chinese version of the Cruze will be showcased at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show. Chevrolet will introduce an all-new Cruze for the US market within the next two years and this facelift has been made to keep the model fresh so that it sustains sales till the new model enters the market.
From the front, the facelifted Cruze looks very good and much better compared to the facelift that Chevrolet gave in India. The front bumper is completely new and it houses a redesigned grille with chrome surrounds. Even the lower radiator grille gets a thin chrome beading which looks quite good. Chevrolet now provides LED daytime-running-lights on the updated Cruze and these too are surrounded by lots of chrome which makes the DRL housing look a bit garish. The rear doesn’t get any noticeable changes and all we can see is a lip spoiler. Buyers also get to choose from a couple of new interior and exterior colours now.
Coming to the interiors, the only significant changes are the new cup-holders, Chevrolet’s multimedia system with new features like Text Message Alerts, OnStar 4G LTE with wifi hotspot and MyLink voice recognition. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze remains the same mechanically. It is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine producing 138 HP of power, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 138 HP again and a 2.0-litre oil-burner giving out 151 HP of power. This facelifted Cruze looks very impressive and we wish Chevrolet provided the Indian Cruze with these updates too.
