The 2015 Chevrolet Aveo is all set to get a mid-life update in China, which will be launched at the Beijing Auto Show set to commence on 20th April. However, prior to the unveil at the show, undisguised images of the 2015 Aveo have been leaked on the internet, giving us a glimpse of the car’s new looks. On the outset, the new Aveo takes inspiration from the next-generation 2015 Cruze that will also make its debut at the Beijing Auto Show. The vehicle also resembles the Mitsubishi Lancer to quite an extent.
For starters, the Chevrolet Aveo receives the split trapezoidal grille flanked with the new angular headlight clusters. The bumper also witnesses a design revision, with a new triangular housing for the fog lamps. The side profile is rather understated with a receding shoulder line; however the belt line on the doors adds some real depth to the design of the mid-size sedan. The rear though retains the lines from the older model with the slimmer and vertically stacked tail light units that get an all new design, while the boot-lid features a subtle integrated lip-spoiler and a wide chrome garnish housed above the number plate housing.
The 2015 Chevrolet Aveo will continue to be powered by the 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder engine producing 97 HP, while the 1.6-litre unit is also available producing 119 HP of power. The engines are mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission in China. The prices are also not expected to change drastically with the base model starting at 81,800 Yuan (Rs. 7.93 lakhs). Whether the Aveo will be changed in other markets across the globe is still to be seen. GM discontinued the Aveo in India just prior to the launch of the Sail and has no plans to bring it back.
