Toyota has soft launched the Innova facelift. The changes on the new Innova are purely cosmetic, retaining the same mechanicals. The changes to the Toyota Innova include a revised front bumper with healthy chrome additions on the radiator grille, fog lamp surround and side moulding with the rear getting a chrome garnish with reflectors. The chrome additions are only for the VX and Z trims.
The interiors more or less remain the same with a slightly tweaked multimedia system and faux wood finish on the doors and gear knob along with two-tone seats. The Japanese automaker is expecting some action in terms of volumes with the updated Innova for the 2014 model year. The festive month has just begun and the carmaker has introduced the new model in order to cash in on the big opportunity. The 2014 Toyota Innova now comes with a new range topping Z variant, which is being offered with the diesel engine option only, in 7-seat layout. Rest of the variants come with both 7-seat and 8-seat layout options.
The starting price for the diesel spec Innova is Rs. 10,89,364/- for the base G variant. While the fully equipped Z variant retails at Rs. 15,06,718/-. The basic petrol G variant retails at Rs. 10,20,345/- (the E and G grades remain unchanged and continue in pre-facelift form), while the petrol high end VX is priced at Rs. 13,69,530/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
The updated Innova gets a touch-screen infotainment system (with DVD, Bluetooth, USB and Aux connectivity) on the VX and Z variants while the new Z variants also gets a grey wooden panel, chrome on parking brake button, ‘premium’ floor mats, leather seats (mix of artificial and genuine), body graphics, chrome muffler cutter and rear spoiler. The facelifted Innova is available in 6 colours namely silver, gold, white, grey, blue and red. These colours are available on all variants, so white is offered even on the top-end VX and Z trims but there is no black colour on offer.
Just few days ago, Toyota hiked the prices of Innova and the facelift retains these prices except for the diesel powered GX and VX variants that see a marginal price increase of Rs. 9000-11,000/-. Toyota dealers are also offering three package deals with Innova that includes a ‘Genuine Accessories pack’ priced at Rs. 7495/-, ‘3M body care package’ priced at Rs. 11,301/- and ‘Toyota Car Care’ priced at Rs. 6557/-. Both the 2.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines are carried forward from the outgoing model, retaining the same performance figures. Toyota has sold more than 4.30 lakh units of the Innova in India since its launch more than 9 years ago.
