Toyota has launched a minor facelift of the Fortuner in Indonesia. The regular model as well as the TRD Sportivo kit gets minor changes for the model year 2014. The front bumper gets two strips of LED daytime running lights on the standard model. Whereas, on the range topping TRD Sportivo trim, the updated Fortuner gets significant changes. The TRD kit includes black finished grille instead of the shiny chrome grille. The bumpers are treated with skirts for a sporty look and the alloys also get a different pattern than the regular model.
The interiors of the Toyota Fortuner facelift get updated with a new entertainment system including a DVD player. Apart from the new system, there are no changes in the cabin. There are no mechanical upgrades as well. The Indonesian market gets two engine options for the Fortuner including a 2.7-litre petrol motor and a 2.5-litre diesel motor, derived from the Innova. The engines are mated to 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions. The Indian market gets a 3.0-litre diesel engine only, mated to an option of a 5-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
The 2014 Toyota Fortuner facelift for the Indonesian market comes with a price range starting from 396 million Rupiah (Rs. 24.15 lakhs) to 478.55 million Rupiah (Rs. 29.18 lakhs). The prices have been increased slightly. We can expect the Japanese automaker to introduce a similar facelift for the Indian market as well to push the sales. The Toyota Fortuner has increasing competition ahead, as Hyundai is preparing the launch of the new Santa Fe. The Fortuner currently competes with the likes of the SsangYong Rexton, Ford Endeavour and Chevrolet Captiva.
