Toyota has commenced marketing activities for the 2014 Corolla Altis that will be launched in May in India. The car is on display at the Mumbai Airport for potential passengers to have a first look at the vehicle. The 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis will be competing in the D-segment sedan space against the Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence, Volkswagen Jetta and the Skoda Octavia. Toyota is calling the Corolla ‘The New Benchmark’ in the segment.
Derived from the Toyota Furia concept, we get the European spec Corolla that looks radically different from the current model. Toyota has let go of the conservative lines in the design department and has given a rather dominant design to the Corolla, which stands out from the crowd. The grille has been induced with oodles of chrome and will be appreciated by Indian buyers. The new Corolla also gets swept back headlamps, while the wide and sporty bumper houses the fog lamps and daytime running LEDs.

The side profile can be characterized as sharp, whereas the rear has a premium and sophisticated feel to it. Toyota has made sure to use loads of chrome across the new Corolla for the premium feel. The interiors have also seen an overhaul with a completely redesigned dashboard and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. You also get keyless entry, start/stop system, automatic climate control and satellite navigation among others.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla will be powered by the same 1.8-litre VVT-i 4-cylinder petrol motor producing 140 BHP of power, mated to a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission. The 1.4-litre D4-D diesel engine will also be on offer producing 87 BHP mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 2014 Corolla has also increased in length by 100 mm than the current model and also offers better legroom at the front and rear.
The eleventh generation Toyota Corolla seems to have ticked all the right boxes in the luxury sedan department offering quality, space and an array of features. Toyota has commenced the pre-bookings for the Corolla at an amount of Rs. 50,000/-. While the prices are not revealed yet, expect the Corolla to be priced between Rs. 12.50 lakhs to Rs. 16.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The D-segment sedan space is surely going to get very exciting with the launch of the all new Corolla.
