Toyota India unveiled their new crucial offering, the next generation Toyota Corolla Altis at the 2014 Auto Expo. The bookings for the eleventh generation Corolla has started but the price and deliveries are yet to be revealed by the Japanese automaker. Toyota showcased the new Corolla Altis at the Auto Expo, revealing the details on the brochure of the new model. The styling is quite impressive and aggressive unlike the outgoing model that had a conservative design language.
The front end of the 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis looks confident and imposing with muscular lines on the bonnet and wide headlamps. The side profile gets a strong shoulder and masculine stance, while the rear gets a elegant setup with a wide bumper, long tail lamps and chrome elements. On the inside, the new Corolla Altis gets an advanced dashboard with a new 7.1-inch touchscreen system with navigation. The design looks up to date and the colours used are tasteful.
Toyota claims that the new Corolla Altis has best in class space, it actually looks quite spacious. For added comfort, they have provided reclining rear seats. There is a host of convenience and safety features offered that you expect on a car in this segment. The 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis comes with seven colour options – pearl white, white, grey, silver, champagne, blue and black. It is offered in both diesel and petrol engine options – 1.8-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel.
The 1.8-litre petrol engine produces a peak power of 140 PS at 6400 RPM and 173 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed sequential CVT automatic with steering mounted paddle shifters. The 1.4-litre diesel engine produces a peak power of 88.4 PS at 3800 RPM and 205 Nm of torque, coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. The D-segment sedan space is getting crowded and the new Corolla Altis with compete with the likes of Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta, Chevrolet Cruze and Renault Fluence.
