After all the teaser images and videos, Suzuki showcased the production version of the new SX4 S-Cross model at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March this year. Before it goes on sale across Europe in late September, the Japanese automaker has released new official images and details of the crossover. The SX4 is now more than 160 mm longer at 4300 mm than its predecessor. It is 10 mm wider and 10 mm taller with a 100 mm longer wheelbase intended to offer maximum cabin space for passengers and luggage.
Suzuki has equipped the S-Cross with the ‘AllGrip’ all-wheel drive system which has an option of toggling between four driver-selectable modes – auto, sport, snow and lock. The SX4 crossover is available with two engine options. The 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine produces 118 HP of power and 320 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engine features start-stop system and returns a whopping 23.81 km/l mileage with 110 g/km of CO2 emissions.
The 1.6-liter petrol motor in the Suzuki SX4 crossover produces 118 HP of maximum power with 156 Nm of peak torque mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and comes with an option of CVT automatic transmission with steering mounted paddle shifts. The petrol engine returns a mileage of 19 km/l. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the latest generation Suzuki SX4 in India around mid-2014. It is likely to be introduced in India in a sedan avatar, as the current SX4 sedan is feeling lost amidst tough competition.
