Renault India has launched the Fluence facelift that gets a few cosmetic changes and equipment upgrades. The front fascia of the 2014 Fluence gets a new pair of headlamps, redesigned grille with a much larger Renault badge and reworked bumper that gets integrated fog lamps with LED daytime running lights. On the inside, you get dual zone climate control system, rear AC vents, digital instrument console, 3D ARKAMYS music system, lumbar support and 530 litres of boot space.
In terms of tech on the Renault Fluence facelift, it gets a smart key with engine start/stop button, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors. Safety features include ESP, ABS, EBD, four airbags, rain sensing wipers and dusk sensing projector headlamps. The 2014 Renault Fluence is offered with a diesel engine option only, which is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder k9k unit that produces a maximum power of 110 PS at 4000 RPM with a peak torque of 240 Nm at 1850 RPM. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only and there is no automatic transmission option.
The 1.5-litre k9k diesel engine on the Renault Fluence returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 20.4 km/l. Currently only two variants are on offer with the Fluence – Diesel E2 and Diesel E4. The entry level Fluence Diesel E2 comes with a price tag of Rs. 14.22 lakhs and the range topping Fluence Diesel E4 comes at Rs. 15.81 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Fluence has had a tough time amongst the competition but Renault hopes the facelift will bring in some much needed respite for the D-segment vehicle.
