Land Rover Unveils Updated 2014 Range Rover

Land Rover has announced a few updates for the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs for the 2014 model year. The updated Range Rover lineup will be showcased next week at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Both the models get additional equipment including Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning and Perpendicular Park along with the new Land Rover InControl app that provides a host of connectivity features. The 2014 Range Rover gets a new Black Design Pack, which will be available with Vogue, Vogue SE and Autobiography models.

The Black Design Pack includes a range of body parts finished in gloss black, including front grille, door mirror caps, exterior door handles, bumper vanes, side vent graphic, wheel nuts, tailgate finisher, Range Rover badging on bonnet and tailgate along with a choice of new 21-inch and 22-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, the front seats get powered upper seat articulation, while rear seats get larger optional 10.2-inch screens for the entertainment system. The Hybrid Range Rover models get improved performance with high fuel efficiency of 15.62 km/l and 26 percent lower CO2 emissions of 169 g/km.

The 2014 Range Rover Sport now gets a 4.4-litre SDV8 turbo diesel engine carried over from the Range Rover. The 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel now gets a revised intake system including twin-intercoolers, a new sump, new cast alloy engine mounts and optimised calibration. The engine produces 339 PS of power and 700 Nm of torque, mated to the 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. 0-100 km/hr comes up in 6.9 seconds and the top speed is 225 km/hr. The new models are on sale from 10th September and the deliveries start early next year. Land Rover will bring the updated models to India at a similar time as both SUVs are brought in via the CBU route.
