Porsche India launched the new Panamera facelift last month, which included five variants – Panamera Turbo, Panamera GTS, Panamera V6, Panamera 4 and Panamera Diesel. The performance oriented carmaker has now introduced the most powerful version of the Panamera, the Panamera Turbo S. The new Panamera has gone through significant changes in terms of exteriors, interiors, features and mechanicals. However, on the styling front, the changes are subtle but the new Porsche Panamera looks sharper than its predecessor with new arrangement of lights.
Powering the Porsche Panamera Turbo S is a 4.8-litre V8 twin-turbocharged petrol engine that produces 570 BHP of maximum power with 750 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. Compared to the regular Panamera Turbo version, the Turbo S produces 50 BHP and 50 Nm more. The Stuttgart based carmaker has featured new turbochargers with larger compressors and increased injection pressure in the fueling system, hence the bump in performance figures.
To handle the additional power and torque on the Panamera Turbo S, Porsche has redesigned the pistons and piston rings. In the overboost mode, the Turbo S produces 800 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/hr sprint comes up in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 310 km/hr. Visual differences on the Panamera Turbo S includes wider tyres and new alloy wheel pattern. The interiors are finished in Dark Burl Walnut trim. The range topping Porsche Panamera Turbo S is available for booking but first units will be available in February 2014. Pricing is yet to be announced but it is expected to cross the Rs. 2 crore mark.
