Nissan has announced yet another version of their highly coveted supercar, the GT-R called the GT-R Track Edition which will be showcased at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. It will go on sale in May 2013. This edition is an extremely hardcore track machine taking the driving experience to the next level promising an almost race car like experience. The supercar will feature many upgrades on the exterior as well as under the skin to bring out the best the vehicle can offer in terms of speed, lightness and handling to become the perfect machine for the track.
The Nissan GT-R Track Edition uses the same 3.7-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine which produces 545 BHP of power and 628 Nm of torque. But new special injectors promise to deliver superior torque response in the mid-range and better acceleration in the mid and high RPM range. The 6-speed dual-clutch paddle-shift gearbox is further tuned to give lightning fast gear changes, just 0.15 seconds for each one. The special all-wheel drive system is lighter and gives perfect weight distribution. This system uses many parameters to decide in split-seconds and transfers power to front or rear wheels and right or left side to wheels that have maximum traction.
The Nissan GT-R Track Edition uses Bilstein DampTronic suspension which was tuned at the Nurburgring race track in Germany by their special development drivers and engineers. This has given the Track Edition an edge over the regular GT-R in terms of handling and grip. The GT-R also features special carbon fibre rear spoiler and front spoiler with air ducts. The brakes too have special cooling air guides. The track Edition gets 6-spoke all black RAYS alloys and special high performance Dunlop tyres filled with nitrogen.
The Nissan GT-R Track Edition has been stripped of rear seats for lightness and special blue high grip front seats are used for maximum support during high speed driving. The instrument panel gets big central tachometer, the centre console gets a metallic frame with carbon fibre interior trim. A special multi-information display screen shows an array of information related to the various components of the vehicles and the car’s and driver’s performance data during a particular driving session. The GT-R Track Edition gets special 11-speaker Bose audio system with Bluetooth function along with hands free telephone.
