2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift To Be Launched In October

Apart from the date for Salman’s marriage, end of corruption and inflation rates to come down, India also wants to know as to when the 2014 Mahindra Scorpio facelift will be launched in the country. Test mules have been abundant over a year now and finally it seems, Mahindra is all set to roll out to its best selling product in the last quarter of the year. As per recent reports, Mahindra will launch the Scorpio facelift in October this year, ahead of the festive season and gets a thorough makeover compared to the existing model.

Doing a quick recap on all the things we know about the Scorpio facelift; the SUV gets comprehensively redesigned front fascia with revised grille, new headlight cluster and redesigned bumper. We also expect the headlights to feature LED DRLs like the XUV500. The side profile is largely the same as the outgoing model, while the rear fascia sports changes to the tail gate, bumper and the inclusion of D-shaped LED tail lights. You will also get new alloy wheels and body graphics complimenting the new design language of the Scorpio facelift.

On the inside, the 2014 Scorpio borrows heavily from the bigger XUV500 and a conscious effort has been made to make the SUV look more premium. The new steering wheel unit comes directly from the XUV500, while other bits too have been inspired. There is a new touchscreen infotainment display, automatic climate control, new instrument cluster with MID screen and use of better quality plastics put into effect. The utilitarian look and feel of the cabin has been replaced by a better looking beige and black colour theme. Mahindra has also added rear air-con vents, while power window switches have been finally moved to the door.

Apart from the aesthetic changes, we expect the Scorpio facelift to get a suspension upgrade offering better ride quality, high speed stability and lesser body roll. The NVH levels will also be tweaked for a silent cabin. The facelift gets no changes under the hood and continues with the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine producing 120 BHP, whereas the base variant gets the 2.5-litre m2DICR diesel unit that produces 75 BHP. Both the motors are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. The automatic version is most likely to continue as well with a 6-speed torque converter. Expect a marginal price hike upon launch.
