Mahindra has been testing the Scorpio facelift for quite some time now, spy images of which have surfaced on the internet on a number of occasions. We already showed you what the interiors of the 2014 Scorpio would look like and now our eagled eyed reader Aditya Kamble managed to capture the exposed tail light cluster of the Scorpio facelift which was on test in Nashik. The update comes as a major change to the SUV in years.
The 2014 Mahindra Scorpio will get LED tail lights as seen in the images and look very trendy by appearance. Sporting D-shaped LEDs, the tail light cluster will discard the Christmas tree-like setup for a more compact look. A major revision from the outgoing model, Mahindra has made several changes to the Scorpio to make it look more upmarket, keeping it abreast with the competition in the segment. Changes on the 2014 Scorpio will extend to the front fascia as well.
Expect to see a redesigned grille, new headlamp cluster and a revised bumper design inspired from the XUV500. The side profile though will get minimal changes, while the rear tail gate will see some minor tweaks as well. The Scorpio facelift’s cabin will get several parts from the XUV500 as well including the multi-function steering wheel and the centre console display. Mahindra will also add a host of new features like an updated multimedia system with Bluetooth, USB, AUX connectivity, automatic climate control and improved levels of fit and finish on the Scorpio facelift.
Powering the 2014 Mahindra Scorpio will be the same 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 120 BHP of power and 290 Nm of torque that could be tweaked for improved fuel efficiency. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic on the Scorpio facelift. With the number of changes on offer, the Mahindra Scorpio will see a marginal increase in the prices as well and could see a festive season launch later this year.
