2014 Mahindra Mojo Spotted On Test, Auto Expo Debut

First unveiled in 2010, the Mahindra Mojo is still not on sale as the company continues to test the motorcycle for complete reliability and performance. While Mahindra has used the Mojo as a showcase vehicle at multiple occasions, the model set for launch will get quite a few changes and hence the company continues to test it with heavy camouflage. Up front the Mojo gets a twin headlight with a bikini fairing while the side reveals the engine which has various markings on it, suggesting the engine is being tested on this test mule.

The Mahindra Mojo which was showcased earlier used a 300cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC EFI engine which outputs 25 BHP of power at 8500 RPM and 24 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and is likely to be called VPI-2. The Mojo uses petal discs (size 320 mm at the front) and ABS won’t be offered. The front uses Paioli upside-down forks while the rear uses a gas-charged monoshock. What is really interesting are the tyres on this bike, they are Pirelli Sport Demon (150 section at the rear) which offer terrific grip.

The alloy wheels on the Mahindra Mojo are quite unique but we aren’t too sure about why the motorcycle features twin exhausts. Three colours will be offered namely black, red and silver. Mahindra pulled a surprise with the Centuro, leading to the bike doing exceptionally well in the Indian market. If Mahindra can pull off a similar surprise with the Mojo, we can expect it to sell in decent numbers. The ridiculous pricing of the Suzuki Inazuma will surely make the Mojo’s case stronger and we expect it to be priced around Rs. 1.6 lakhs.
