Almost all car manufacturers are joining the compact SUV race. While Toyota is still waiting to enter this high growth segment, Honda is all set to bring out its compact SUV next year. The Japanese car maker has already showcased the concept version of its upcoming compact SUV, which it has chosen to call as the Honda Urban. This compact SUV from Honda is underpinned by the next generation Jazz’ platform, which is due to go on sale next year in many countries, including India.
The production version of the Honda Urban is set to be unveiled anytime soon as the vehicle will go on sale in Japan later this year. However you don’t have to wait any longer as we have rendered the Honda Urban SUV (above). The production model will not have those LED lights, nor will the chrome grille extend to the headlights. The wheels will be smaller with high profile tyres to tackle bad and off-road conditions. However the Honda Urban SUV will not be a true SUV as it won’t be offered with 4-wheel drive initially.
The Honda Urban SUV is not really small like the Volkswagen Taigun or the Ford EcoSport. The vehicle has a length of 4.3-metres which makes it as big as the Renault Duster (4.315-metres). Powering the Honda Urban SUV will be a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, both of which produce good amount of power, while returning excellent mileage. The Urban SUV will not get excise duty benefits and is thus expected to be priced around Rs. 10 lakhs in India. Honda will certainly showcase the Urban SUV at the 2014 Auto Expo which takes place in February next year. Meanwhile checkout the pictures of the Honda Urban SUV Concept below.
