The 2014 Honda Jazz was showcased in India for the first time at the Auto Expo last month and the Japanese manufacturer made it clear that the premium hatchback will be launched this fiscal year. The 2014 Jazz has now been spotted in India at what seems to be a dealership or service centre. The car spotted could be the one showcased at the Auto Expo but sported steel rims as opposed to 10-spoke alloy wheels on the show car. The i-VTEC or i-DTEC badges from the rear boot-lid that convey the variant were absent.
The 2014 Honda Jazz when launched in India will be powered by petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is capable of producing 90 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque from the previous generation; while the all-new i-DTEC Earth Dreams diesel engine will be make a healthy 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while the petrol might also get a 5-speed automatic from the Amaze. The i-DTEC diesel engine delivers a class leading 25.8 km/l on the Amaze and we could see similar numbers on the Jazz as well.
Design wise too, the 2014 Honda Jazz is rather evolutionary and retains its attributes with loaded features and a spacious cabin. Expect the interior quality to be top notch, much like the previous generation. The Jazz will be priced more competitively this time round with Honda focusing on localising more components. Prices for the Honda Jazz could begin at Rs. 4.99 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base petrol model. Is Honda mulling an early launch in Diwali to take on the Hyundai i20 facelift? We will keep you posted on their plans.
