It is spy picture day! Our fellow readers, we bring you another picture from Hero MotoCorp. It seems like Hero has arranged some press conference for people down south and hasn’t invited mainstream media and is releasing skew of motorcycles which may be the new motorcycles being developed in collaboration with EBR. First spy pictures were of the Hero Karizma ZMR and now it is the Hero Xtreme. The Hero Xtreme is the one which is pictured above and gets a host of changes. We can only spot few changes from this low quality picture shared by our reader Yasar Lakhani.
The headlight and tank of the updated Hero Xtreme have gone under the knife and looks far more sleeker while retaining its signature styling of the CBZ Xtreme which seems apparent from the single piece seat, grab rails and bulbous tail piece. There is a new 3D logo on the tank and dual colour paint scheme on the rear view mirrors. The alloys, disc and front mudguard seem to be the same. The motorcycle continues to be supported by doubled sided gas shocks at the rear.
The old Hero Xtreme had a small engine belly fairing, which seems to be missing here. There is a lot of confusion now and you never know what is going to turn up until Hero officially releases details of these new bikes. Hero may have unveiled the motorcycles with EBR technology or it can be another facelift to push sales of the motorcycles with Honda engine, after all the tailpiece shows the ATFT badge, which is associated with Honda engines. The Xtreme will debut a first in segment electronic immobiliser system which has been developed in-house by Hero.
The Hero Xtreme is powered by a 149.2cc engine which is known as the national 150cc motorcycle engine. The same motor powers seven motorcycles from Hero and Honda’s stable. The engine in the Xtreme produces 14.4 BHP of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. If EBR has worked on the engine, it is likely to have more power and a jump in efficiency as well. The current leader of power output in the 150cc category is the Apache 160 and Pulsar 150 with 15 PS of power.
Hero MotoCorp could be targeting the new CB Trigger, which is a decent success for Honda thanks to the VFM proposition it carries. India’s largest 2-wheeler manufacturer could strike with one arrow and hit several targets, or maybe not. The company has four 150cc motorcycles in their stable and all of these motorcycles could get this updated engine, except the Impulse.
