Hero MotoCorp has announced a new 110cc scooter called Dash, aimed at male buyers. The Hero Dash is powered by a 111cc, 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine. This is the same Honda motor which powers a various number of scooters in India (from Hero and Honda). The Hero Dash produces 8.44 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and 9.4 Nm of torque at 5750 RPM. The scooter uses telescopic front forks, running on 90/90/12 front tyre and 90/90/10 rear tyre. The tyres are tubeless running on alloy wheels and the brakes are 130 mm drums at both ends utilising Hero’s integrated braking system.
The Hero Dash measures 1850 mm in length while the width and height is 822 mm and 1270 mm respectively. The ground clearance is 155 mm and the scooter weighs in at 110 kgs. The fuel tank capacity is 6.0-litres with 1.8-litres being reserve. The Hero Dash features a key operated external fuel lid and also comes with service due and side stand indicator warnings in the console. The scooter also gets a mobile charging socket. The company claims the under seat storage is large which also gets a light. The dual tone mirrors and digital analog meter are other highlights.
The Hero Dash scooter will go on sale in the second half of the year. It looks quite interesting on paper and should be able to garner some market share for Hero MotoCorp in the 110cc scooter segment. Currently scooters are seeing an increase in demand resulting in almost every manufacturer (except Bajaj Auto) jumping to launch new scooters. The Yamaha Alpha and Suzuki Let’s will be launched at the 2014 Auto Expo where Honda will unveil its new scooter. The Hero Dash will rival the TVS Jupiter and Honda Activa.
