Ford India has introduced the Endeavour that gets very subtle updates to the exteriors and the interiors to the 2014 model. As Ford says, the 2014 Endeavour sports new tough and muscular looks retaining the proven off-roading capabilities along with new interior styling for a premium appeal. Changes on the Endeavour facelift include redesigned headlamps, new grille, new fog lamp bezels finished in brushed aluminium as well as a new skid plate. The passenger-side mirror now gets blind-spot detection that maximises driver visibility and enhances road safety.
On the inside, the cabin retains the three row seating layout with ample amount of legroom on offer. The 2014 Endeavour gets refreshed trim updates and sports new leather seats. The cabin also gets touch enabled SATNAV entertainment system with Navigation Bluetooth audio control and reverse parking camera adding a premium feel and convenience for the driver. In terms of safety, the Endeavour gets driver and front passenger side airbags, ABS and EBD offered as standard on all variants.
The 2014 Ford Endeavour will continue to be powered by two engine options. The base variant gets the 2.5-litre, 16-valve TDCi engine that is tuned to produce 143 PS at 3500 RPM and 330 Nm of torque at 1800 RPM, mated to a 4×2 5-speed manual transmission. The other variants get the more powerful 3.0-litre Duratorq TDCi common-rail engine that produces 156 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque featuring 4×4 and 4×2 with 5-speed automatic transmission.
There is also the electric shift-on-fly system that gives the drivers the option to switch to the 4×4 mode with the 5-speed automatic transmission. The automatic variants get the cruise control feature that enhances the credentials of the SUV. Completing the list of changes on the SUV are the redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels. Ford is offering the Endeavour in four colour options namely silver, black, white and grey. The SUV claims an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 12.67 km/l.
Ford India states that the 2014 Endeavour is targeted for the enthusiasts who are outgoing, adventurous and believe in exiting their comfort zones to take the roads less travelled, yet never compromise on their comfort. The Endeavour competes with the Toyota Fortuner and the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in the segment. The next generation model is just around the corner.
