2014 Fiat Punto Evo Facelift Variant Details Revealed

All set to make a comeback in the premium hatchback space, Fiat India has comprehensively worked on the 2014 Punto facelift christened as the ‘Punto Evo’ that will be make its debut in the coming weeks. Now, the brochure of the 2014 Punto has leaked online revealing the variants, engine options as well as the new set of features available on the hatchback. The Punto Evo will be available in four variants namely Active, Dynamic, Emotion and Sports trims (same as the outgoing model); while engine options remain unchanged as well.

The base Active variant on the 2014 Fiat Punto Evo features black door handles, ORVMs with blinkers and dual-tone black-beige interiors. On the inside, the cabin gets front power windows with delay and auto-down, automatic door lock, central locking, manual air-con unit, hydraulic tilt-adjustable power steering and follow-me home headlamps as standard. Features such as body coloured door handles and ORVMs, rear power windows, height adjustable driver’s seat, electrically adjustable ORVMs, built-in speed sensitive audio unit with USB and AUX connectivity are available on the Dynamic variant.

The Emotion trim further adds chrome inserts on the exteriors, while the cabin gets automatic air-con, leather wrapped gear knob and steering wheel with controls; rear defogger, Bluetooth connectivity, voice commands, SMS read-outs and much more. The Emotion trim also gets bigger 15-inch tyres with diamond cut alloy wheels. In terms of safety, the Active trim gets only Fire preventive safety (FPS), while the Dynamic trim adds ABS+EBD (on diesel only) and the Emotion variant gets dual front airbags with passenger airbag deactivation and seats belts with pre-tensioners as standard.

Much like the outgoing model, the top Sports variant packs in all the goodies from the other trims but also gets bigger 16-inch alloys, all-black interiors and a sporty rear spoiler. The Active variant will be riding on 165/80/R14 tyres wrapped around steel rims, while the Dynamic trim adds wheel covers. The Emotion trim gets 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels on the list, apart from the other features. The Sports version gets 16-inch alloys.

Engine options include the 1.2-litre petrol engine available on Active and Dynamic trims, while the 1.4-litre petrol unit is offered on the Emotion trim. All diesel variants are powered by the 1.3-liter MultiJet engine producing 75 PS of power, while the Sports trim is offered in a higher state of tune producing 93 PS from the same engine. Fiat will be offering the Punto Evo in 7 different shades inclusive of Glitterati Gold, Magnesio Gey, Exotica Red, Hip Hop Black, Vocal White, Minimal Grey and Tuscan Wine.

In terms of styling, the 2014 Punto gets updates to the grille, headlights and the front bumper with loads of chrome inserts. At the rear, the hatchback sports new tail lights, a revised tail gate and an updated rear bumper. Fiat could have also used this opportunity to upgrade the door handles to the modern pull-type ones. Nonetheless, the Punto Evo looks promising as ever and will be competing against the new Volkswagen Polo, upcoming Hyundai i20 and Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift in the segment.
