The compact crossover from the Bavarian carmaker is up for another facelift. However, the changes brought about this time are very subtle as far as exteriors are concerned. On the inside, equipment updates and a few added features and services are introduced. The 2014 BMW X1 will feature refreshed exterior accents and new air intake vents in the front apron. The crossover will also boast of a new V-design of the 17-inch alloy wheels and daytime running lights will now come as standard. BMW will also be introducing a new Sparkling Brown Metallic colour on the 2014 X1. The last mention of the exterior updates is the stainless steel finish at the bottom edge of the tailgate.
The interior trim panels of the BMW X1 are now available in newer options such as gloss black, matte coral-red or pearl gloss chrome finish. The surface of the instrument cluster will also be wrapped in a soft-touch material with lapfolded seams which adds to the premium sense of the car. The aforementioned updates are available for the xLine, Sport Line, or the M Sport trim. New services in the BMW ConnectedDrive form a major chunk of updates. Internet based services such as Online Entertainment can be subscribed to installed as applications. Another app ECO PRO analyser helps you monitor your driving patterns.
There is no change in the engines of the 2014 BMW X1. In the Indian market, the X1 will continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre sDrive20d, 4-cylinder diesel engine which produces 184 BHP of power, 380 Nm of torque, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The changes in the 2014 model are just an effort to maintain the popularity of the X1. These changes will be the last of the lot as BMW is planning to launch an entirely new model for the year 2016. The updated BMW X1 will be showcased at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show to be held In January.
