2014 BMW R nineT Has Massive Retro Appeal

In order to celebrate 90 years of the brand, BMW Motorrad has unveiled the BMW R nineT. It is a unique motorcycle with distinct styling elements that makes it look quite attractive. The nineT has the design traits of various motorcycle eras. Blending with the eye catching styling is the boxer engine’s rugged character that pays tribute to the BMW R90s of the earlier generations. It is a technologically advanced motorcycle, well-equipped with modern features and has a modular concept that offers maximum scope of personalisation.

The BMW R nineT is powered by the legendary classic flat twin boxer engine, which has 1170cc of displacement and is an air/oil cooled unit. The iconic engine produces 110 HP of maximum power at 7750 RPM with a peak torque of 119 Nm at 6000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed manual constant mesh gearbox. The boxer engine is known for its design, thick torque delivery and beautiful acoustics. The modular frame has a removable pillion frame and frame end-piece. The nineT achieves the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 200 km/hr.

The suspension setup consists of upside-down telescopic fork at the front and paralever at the rear. The exhaust system of the BMW R nineT has two silencers with variation options. The traditional wheels are wire-spoke with black rims and hubs. The braking performance comes from a hydraulically actuated 320 mm floating twin-disc brakes at the front and a 265 mm single-disc brake at the rear. The nineT is also equipped with ABS. The BMW R nineT comes with a single black colour scheme with silver and metallic contrasts. The bike is scheduled to hit US showrooms in March 2014.
