Yamaha has its own identity when it comes to the breath-taking performance, emotive style and Moto GP that always boosts the adrenaline rush. Yamaha launched its first 125cc two-wheeler in 1955 and if we devour the company’s archive, Yamaha has acclaimed several benchmarks in the two-wheeler industry. But from a while the company is loosing its grip in the global market due to strong competition on more advanced technology and newly developed design from the other superbike manufacturers. To rejuvenate its presence across the world, Yamaha has unveiled one of its most important launch of the decade, the MT-09 super bike. The MT-09 is an all new middle weight performance motorcycle with distinctive naked styling.
The Yamaha MT-09 is powered by an all-new 850cc transverse three-cylinder engine tuned to deliver extreme torque in a linear manner from very low RPM. The engine produces a power output of 110 BHP at 10,000 RPM and 85 Nm of torque at 8500 RPM distributed in a way to respond instantly from very low range. A newly developed 6-speed transmission pays its duty to transfer the power to the rear wheels with Yamaha’s YCC-T and D-MODE electronic control systems.
Besides, dangling the atrocious performance, Yamaha features the lightweight CF die-cast aluminium chassis frame and the asymmetric column swing arm with horizontal monocross suspension accumulating the total weight of the MT-09 to only 188 kgs and 191 kgs for ABS variant. The straight riding full control position, full flat seat, slim design 14-litre fuel tank with wide handle bars are some of the highlights of this machine.
The light weight chassis makes the Yamaha MT-09 ready for a variety of roles, whether it’s daily criss-cross action or a knee scraping track session. The MT-09 is vacant for any of the above mentioned jobs within a fraction of a second. The 17-inch light weight radial tyres stringed in all-new beautiful 10-spoke alloy wheels provide ample road grip and responsive handling for aggressive cornering.
Yamaha offers the MT-09 in four color shades – Deep Armor, Blazing Orange, Matt Grey and Race Blue. The motorcycle is specifically developed for the European market and will rub elbows with the KTM 990 Super Duke, Ducati Monster and the Triumph Speed Triple that have been leading the premium naked style segment in Europe. The new generation street fighter has reached Yamaha outlets with a price tag of 6799 Euros (approximately Rs. 5.27 lakhs). The MT-09 is a starting of a new era that creates the turbulence among the market leaders and the success of the model is expected to conceive a new generation of motorcycles in the future.
