Tata Motors will launch the facelifted Sumo Gold tomorrow, which gets 19 new features. The exterior gets 10 new features including new mascot for tailgate, tubeless tyres, new wheel covers, chrome grille, body graphics, Two new colours have been added to the Sumo Gold – Blazing Red and Twilight Gray. On the interior front, the facelifted Sumo Gold gets dual AC, Bluetooth and USB audio system, wood finish console with mobile holder, etc.
Powering the Tata Sumo Gold is the same 3.0-litre CR4 diesel engine which returns a certified mileage of 15.3 km/l. Tata Motors has pitched the Sumo Gold GX against the Mahindra Bolero ZLX. The company believes the Sumo Gold offers more to the customer compared to the Bolero, as the former has a bigger fuel tank, higher ground clearance, lower turning radius, high performance clutch and more features.
Tata Motors has not made changes to the Sumo Gold’s engine which still produce 84 BHP of power at 3000 RPM and 250 Nm of torque at 1600 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The company will also launch a minor facelift on the Tata Nano tomorrow, along with which it will also introduce a CNG variant of the India’s most affordable car. Will all this be enough for Tata Motors to gain back market share? We can’t say at this moment but we hope the company has more to offer, specially all new products.
