Its raining compact performance bikes in the United States of America. Just yesterday Honda announced three 500cc motorcycles for the US market and now Suzuki has added the GW250 to its 2013 US line-up. Now the Suzuki GW250 is no stranger to us, we have already been speculating about its India launch since quite some time now and time and again Suzuki disappoints us. With almost every motorcycle getting into the performance segment, its just a matter of time before the Suzuki GW250 hits our shores.
The 2013 Suzuki GW250 is powered by a 248cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin engine which delivers a power output of 26 BHP at 8500 RPM and a torque output of 24.2 Nm at 7000 RPM. This engine offers excellent low and mid-range performance and the GW250 is more of a cruiser motorcycle than an outright sports machine. The SOHC motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The Suzuki GW250 weighs 182 kgs, which is quite heavy for a non-faired 250cc motorcycle.
In the States, Suzuki has priced the GW250 at $4099 (Rs. 2.25 lakhs), which is similar to the Honda CBR250R. If launched in India, Suzuki will have to price the GW250 at around Rs. 1.75 lakhs as the bike is not so strong in hardware compared to the competition. Disc brakes at the front and rear along with conventional forks are offered. The front tyres are 110/80/17, while the rears are 140/70/17. The styling of the Suzuki GW250 draws heavy inspiration from the B-King which gives it huge presence.
