A month ahead of its launch, Skoda has released images and specifications of its high performance offering, the Skoda Octavia vRS (third generation). The design speaks aggressive styling with sleek and crisp flow lines, stylish alloy wheels and almost linear all-day running LED lights. This car will be fiited with Xenon headlamps, LED tail lights and dual exhausts. The Skoda Octavia vRS is based on the Volkswagen Golf GTI and will be launched as a sedan as well as an estate version. The vRS out powers the Volkswagen Golf by a small margin in terms of top speed.
The Skoda Octavia vRS will be powered by the Volkswagen sourced 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine which produces an output of 217 BHP. The petrol powered Octavia vRS has a top speed of 248 km/hr and exceeds the Golf by about 3 km/hr. However it takes 0.4 seconds more at 6.8 seconds to complete a 0-100 km/hr run as compared to the Golf. The diesel engine is a 2.0-litre, 181 BHP TDI unit from the Golf GTD and clocks the 0-100 km/hr run in 8.1 seconds.
The Octavia vRS features XDS electronic differential and multi-link rear suspension. The suspension is a little firmly tuned which brings the vRS version of the Octavia closer to the ground by 12 mm from the standard Octavia.
The estate version is also quite a view along the length and those stylish alloy wheels are a lot to thank for. There is an option of 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels and the vRS badging will be seen around the car and inside too on both the versions. The interior comes equipped with vRS specific sports seats and floor mats, stainless steel pedals and vRS dials in the instrument cluster. The Skoda Octavia vRS will debut at the Goodword Festival of Speed starting 12th of July and is headed to India next year.
