Land Rover had launched the much awaited 2013 Range Rover last year and the premium SUV has received a good response in the international market. Now is the time for the new Range Rover Sport to step into the market. The 2013 Range Rover Sport has been spotted camouflaged recently and is said to be unveiled at the 2013 New York Motor Show late in March. This is the second generation Range Rover Sport and will be designed on the new alluminium light weight frame.
The second generation Range Rover Sport will weigh around 150 kgs less than the outgoing model. The upcoming SUV will take heavy inspirations in terms of design from the Range Rover Evoque. The Range Rover Sport will feature Evoque inspired headlamps as well as tail lamps with the roof raked backwards steeply with an integration of a big spoiler. It will be offered in both 5 and 7-seater configurations with increased wheelbase in order to provide good cabin space.
The new Range Rover Sport is expected to be powered with an option of three engines including the 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel unit, 4.4-litre V8 diesel and 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol unit, all mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The test mule was also spotted featuring Brembo brakes that will enhance the braking power of the SUV. It will come with all the latest gadgetry. The 2013 Range Rover Sport is expected to be launched at a price of £57,000 (Rs. 40 lakhs) at the 2013 New York Motor Show next month.
