Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2013 SX4 facelift in the Indian market, our friends at IAB report. The company has given the Maruti SX4 new colours both inside out, along with a slight improvement in fuel mileage as well. India’s largest car maker has taken the exteriors and given it some chrome treatment (on the grille), in a bid to appeal to a larger section of the Indian population. The rear view mirrors get turn indicators while also offering electric folding function. Dual tone garnish has been added to the foglamps as well.
The interiors of the facelifted Maruti SX4 get the dual-tone treatment in black and beige. The SX4 also gets an option touchscreen system, which has both audio and navigation functionality. Other additions include chrome treated door handles and AC vents.
Sales of the SX4 have remained poor and thus Maruti Suzuki hasn’t touched the prices, which remain the same as before. The 2013 Maruti SX4 range starts at Rs. 7.38 lakhs for the base VXi variant, going all the way up to Rs. 9.22 lakhs for the top-end ZDi variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi). There is a CNG variant on offer too (in VXi trim) which returns a mileage of 22.1 km/kg and complies with OBD-II and BSIV norms.
The engines on the Maruti SX4 remain untouched, which means a 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine continue to power the vehicle. What has been touched though is the mileage. The company has managed to boost fuel economy by as much as 6 percent, resulting in the petrol model returning 16.51 km/l. The diesel SX4 returns 21.79 kml just like before (all mileage figures are ARAI certified). These engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the petrol model is also offered with an auto box.
