The first commuter motorcycle from the Indian based two-wheeler maker LML, the Freedom, which was discontinued due to the plummeting sales and the company’s leverage is re-launched in a new avatar. The Freedom was first time launched with the 110cc engine and was a tough motorcycle in the market at the time of its launch in 2002. But the mediocre design and dissatisfaction among the buyers from the service feedback became the reason for it to not sustain against leading brands like Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto.
Now LML has re-launched the Freedom with new modern features and equipments to slice out some market share in the segment, our friends at IAB report. The motorcycle’s head is redesigned with the new headlamp and a new visor. The new two-tone color looks subtle to the eyes, however it is not hard for a known person to compare the model’s identity to the old Freedom as the body shape is similar to its predecessor and doesn’t have any new body lines. The LTM Freedom is powered by the same 110cc 4-stroke engine which has been revised to increase power while meeting new emission norms.
The other features include an electric start, economy and power LED speedometer to inform the rider about the best mileage mode, new black alloy wheels and a chrome plate with black silencer. The saddle has also better padding to increase the comfort level for both rider and pillion. LML has launched the 2013 Freedom in two variants – DX and the LS with a price tag of Rs. 49,410 /- and Rs. 49,750 /- respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Freedom might offer an overall better package than the previous model but its hard for LML to regain customer faith against segment leaders like Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp and Honda.
