Force Motors is all set to launch its new Force Gurkha under its passenger car segment next year. Its passenger car division was announced only last year with the launch of its Force One 4×2 SUV and there was news on the possible launch of a MPV by 2013. The MPV is expected to be a Mercedes-Benz Viano based vehicle. However, one of the readers of ONcars.in has taken the spy shots of the third product being tested in Pune and that is the new Force Gurkha.
The Force Gurkha is a well-known off-road SUV and is based on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class platform. The car on the test wore the G-Wagon inspired round headlamps. Apart from that, bonnet-mounted blinkers and sporty roof rails were also seen. There was the trademark snorkel which ran from the bonnet to the roof. The new Gurkha has the same alloy wheels which are seen on the Force One as well and wears the 235/70 section road tyres.
The new Force Gurkha will draw power from a 2.2-litre FMTech diesel engine. This engine is sourced from Mercedes-Benz and produces 140 BHP of peak power and 321 Nm of peak torque. The vehicle has a 4×4 system which will give it good off-road capability. Presence of ABS is still doubtful, however, one can expect large seats and also air-conditioning. Speculations say that the new Gurkha would be priced competitively and would be priced around Rs. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune).
