Fiat India updated the Linea and Punto last year and presented it just before the 2012 Auto Expo. Sadly there was no update on top of the line T-Jet model. Being an incredible driver’s car, with extraordinary looks, lot of car enthusiasts were wondering if this was the end of the road for the T-Jet. It looks as if Fiat has finally heard our prayers and launched the new T-Jet this year. Thanks to the new brand strategy, Fiat is recreating thier image with some niche products from the Jeep and Abarth lineup. The Linea T-Jet is the first of these products to be launched as per the brand’s revival plans in India. Abarth and Jeep will follow up later this year.
The 2013 Fiat Linea T-Jet will be powered by the same 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This motor is in the same tune as the earlier one and produces 114 BHP at 5000 RPM and 207 Nm at 2200 RPM. The T-Jet will be offered in Dynamic and Emotion trims. Fiat is now offering a whole lot of goodies like rain sensing wipers, voice command activation technology (Blue & Me), automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights, bright dual tone interiors, adjustable steering, rear armrest with glove box and cup holders and rear AC vents at foot and knee level.
All these features will pamper the occupants and comfort the drive, more than ever. The ground clearance is also increased to 185 mm from 170 mm for tension free city driving. Host of security features like keyless entry, anti-theft immobiliser with rolling code, digital door open indicator, double crank prevention system are introduced as well. We expect the performance of this car as good as the earlier one. The Linea T-Jet is offered in Dynamic and Emotion variants and Fiat hasn’t announced the prices yet.
