Ducati will launch the Hypermotard Hyperstrada in India in the first week of May 2013. The motorcycle is a touring version of the new Hypermotard series. The Hyperstrada gets standard equipment such as a windshield, saddle bags and a comfortable and dedicated riding position for long distance touring, special touring seats, passenger grab handle, main stand, engine sump guard, two 12V power outlet, heated grips and satellite navigation system. The electronic package includes, Ducati traction control (DTC), ABS, ‘Ride-by-Wire’ system which allows the bike to have three different modes to put the power and torque down to the tarmac.
The Ducati Hyperstrada is powered by brand new 821.1cc, V-Twin Testastretta, liquid-cooled engine that produces 110 BHP of power at 9250 RPM and 89 Nm of torque at 7750 RPM. The engine is mated to 6-speed transmission. The Hyperstrada comes with top of the line suspension such as, 43mm USD forks, single-sided aluminum swing arm, SACH rear monoshock with remote adjustability. The motorcycle when fuelled and with all liquids weighs in at 204 kgs!
The Ducati Hyperstrada’s price starts at $13,000 (Rs.7.27 lakhs) and there are different variants of the motorcycle with various goodies and accessories on offer. Given excise duties in India for CBU motorcycles (now 75 percent), pricing of this Ducati will be around Rs. 18 lakhs (after taxes). The Hyperstrada will be available in showrooms in Chandigarh and Mumbai. We can’t wait to go Hyper on this motorcycle.
