The Bavarian auto maker, BMW is all set to unveil the M version of its 6 series at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show to be held in the month of March. BMW will be unveiling the coupe version of the M6 at the Geneva Motor Show and the convertible will follow at the New York Motor Show due in April. The M division is actually the in-house performance division of BMW who specially tune up the main stream BMW models for customers to get in more fun and performance. Official pictures of the BMW M6 have been released and looking at them we can tell you that the M6 gets new front and rear bumpers, side skirts and a new rear diffuser that houses 4 chrome tipped tail pipes.
The famous kidney shaped BMW grille has also under some modifications. However, under the hood, things are a bit surprising. The BMW M6 uses the same 4.4 litre twin turbocharged V8 engine that is plonked also into the M5. It produces 560 BHP of power between 5750 RPM and 7000 RPM and churns out a peak torque of 680Nm between 1500 and 5750 RPM. This engine is mated to a 7 speed M-Double Clutch transmission and power is sent to the wheels via BMW’s Active M Differential to the rear wheels. The car hits the 0-100 km/h mark in just 4.2 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
BMW has specially tweaked the chassis of the regular 6 series to give it specially tuned suspension, an M-specific Servo-tronic power steering and a more powerful braking system. The car rides on 265/40 R19 “ultra-high performance” tires at the front and 295/35 R19 at the back. On the interior, the M6 gets sports seats, special instrument panel gauges and sport trims. With so much features and performance packed to it, who wouldn’t wish to buy one of them!
