Honda has launched the 2012 CBR150R in the Indian market today, priced at Rs. 1,16,385/- for the standard variant and Rs. 1,17,385/- for the deluxe variant (all prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). The only difference between the variants is the colour, while everything else remains the same. This equates to an on-road price in Delhi of Rs. 1.31 lakhs. The Honda CBR150R may be a smaller capacity CBR250R, but Honda is being too optimistic with the pricing, as this is right in KTM Duke 200 territory. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 all of a sudden starts to look value for money, while the CBR150R’s premium pricing will only work in its competitors favour.
The Honda CBR150R is powered by a 150 cc, 4-valve, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine, which produces 18 PS of peak power at 10,500 RPM and 12.6 Nm of peak torque at 8500 RPM. The torque might seem less for a performance machine but the CBR150R is expected to be quicker to 100 km/h than the R15. The Honda CBR150R features twin tubular frame and a pentagonal muffler. The dual layered full body cowling along with the Y shaped headlight give the CBR150R good presence.
The Honda CBR150R also benefits from a more comfortable riding position compared to the R15, but Honda should have priced it aggressively Honda CBR150R Standard variant is available in Black with Pearl Sunbeam White and Sports Red with Pearl Sunbeam White. While the Honda CBR150R Deluxe variant is available in Black with Candy Palm Green and Vibrant Orange with Pearl Sunbeam White. Bookings have already started and your Honda dealer will accept your booking for a token amount of Rs. 5000/-. Deliveries will only start in the first week of April 2012.
