The wait is over and Honda has officially unveiled the 2012 CBR1000RR. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the liter class CBR started life as the CBR900RR in 1992 and went onto become the CBR929RR in 2000. In 2003, the CBR954RR came while the CBR1000RR only came in 2004. However, Honda has not given any massive changes to the CBR since the 1000RR came along. Now in order to celebrate the bikes 20th birthday, Honda has given the CBR1000RR new Showa big piston forks, revised fuel injection settings, a new nose and tail, patented double-tube balance-free rear shock, new multi-function display (displays the tachometer, current gear and lap times) and new 12-spoke cast aluminum wheels.

Honda has priced the 2012 edition of the CBR1000RR at $13,800 for the standard model, while the ABS variant would cost $14,800. Deliveries will start in December, but we in India will have to wait slightly longer for the most famous liter class superbike. Honda has focused on sharpening the CBR1000RR further and has put alot of its efforts on the chassis. The 999 cc, 4-cylinder, liquid cooled, DOHC engine uses dual stage fuel injection technology producing 153 BHP of power and 105 Nm of torque. Mated to a close ration 6-speed gearbox, the bike features dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers with full-floating 320mm discs at the front and single 220mm disc at the rear along with Honda Electronic Combined ABS ensure the bike stops quicker than it goes. At the front the CBR1000RR has 120/70ZR-17 tyres, while at the rear it features 190/50ZR-17 tyres. The 2012 CBR1000RR is available in Red, Black, Pearl White/Blue/Red colours.
