General Motors recently launched the Tavera Neo 3 and has confirmed that it will be launching the new Captiva in April, Sail hatchback in June and the Enjoy MPV by October 2012. The launch of the Enjoy MPV will be followed by the launch of the Sail sedan. Both the Sail twins and Enjoy MPV are vital vehicles for GM, as both the cars are result of the collaboration between GM and its Chinese partner SAIC. Currently GM is busy testing the Chevrolet Enjoy, which was spotted by Jobu George in Cochin.
The Chevrolet Enjoy is the Wulling CN100, which will be powered by a both petrol and diesel engines. Knowing GM, the company might launch the petrol version first, following up with the diesel engined model later. The petrol Enjoy is powered by a 1.4-litre engine which produces 94.6 BHP of power, while the diesel engine is the 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet, which produces 89 BHP of power. Both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Now the most crucial part about the Chevrolet Enjoy will be its pricing. Maruti Suzuki is going to launch the Ertiga MPV next month and GM could create havoc with the price of the Enjoy. While the Maruti Ertiga will be priced between Rs. 7-9 lakhs, the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV will be priced between Rs. 5-7 lakhs. This would result in preventing cannibalization with the Tavera, which is priced around Rs. 7.5 lakhs. Expect the top end variant of the Enjoy to feature dual airbags, ABS and an integrated audio system.
