General Motors is on an onslaught to refresh old products and launch new ones. The American automaker recently launched the face-lifted Chevrolet Captiva and updated the engine in the Cruze. The company has made it vocal that it plans to axe the Aveo, Aveo U-VA and Optra cars by September, replacing the former two with the Sail twins. The Tavera was given a mild facelift along with a new engine at the 2012 Auto Expo, while the Spark is also set for a mild make over by the end of the year. This leaves the Beat as the sole vehicle to not have got any update in GM’s portfolio.
However pictures of a camouflaged Chevrolet Beat, which seem to have been taken at GM’s production plant point to a mild facelift in the works. The company has not made any announcements yet but the American Beat (known as the Spark there) recently got a small facelift. Changes to the face-lifted Chevrolet Beat include a new front bumper, bigger front grille and a modified intake system. GM might slip in additional features to the Beat facelift, which is expected to be launched in October 2012.
The Chevrolet Beat is available in petrol, diesel and CNG options, giving buyers a wide variety to chose from. The Beat diesel is known from the high mileage it delivers with an ARAI certified mileage of 25.4 km/l (the highest in the country). Credit to this goes to the 936cc, 3-cylinder diesel engine which is derived from the 1.3-litre Multijet. The petrol Beat is powered by a 1.2-litre motor which produces 80 BHP of power.
GM showcased the facelifted Beat in the United States some time back. Known as the 2013 Chevrolet Spark, the car receives many updates to help it comply with the strict safety norms prevalent abroad. Below is the picture of the facelifted US Chevrolet Beat.
