The strike at Maruti Suzuki’s production facility at Manesar has finally come to an end, after 14 days. The tripartite agreement between the Haryana Government, Maruti Suzuki management and workers has been successfully made. The management will take back 64 permanent workers along with 1200 casual workers. As part of the agreement, two committees will be set up, one for grievance redressal, while the other for labour welfare. The management has looked at the indiscipline of the employees and in cases where it was not serious, have taken the workers back. However the charges of 30 employees was found to be in serious natures and Maruti Suzuki has decided to suspend these employees.
Maruti Suzuki management has decided to give workers some benefits like pick up and drop facility and the likes to ensure such events don’t happen in the future. Other than the huge increase in waiting period for its cars (specially the new Swift), Maruti Suzuki has also faced huge losses due to lack of production caused by the striking workers. The management of the company will be meeting on the 29th of October to discuss the setting up of their upcoming facility in Gujarat.
