New 125cc scooter from TVS is reported to come equipped with advanced features which are unheard of in the scooter segment.
You read it first on MotorBeam. In India, TVS has tasted success in the scooter segment with its Jupiter which marks monthly sales of over 50,000 units consistently. The Apache maker has been planning to expand its scooter portfolio in a bid to capture a greater share of the market. TVS’ 125cc scooter, which will go against the likes of the Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125, is under development and is expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The new scooter will be launched with a host of segment first features such as traction control and multiple ride modes. Convenience features such as USB charging port and external fuel filler cap are also in place. Even the instrument cluster is expected to take heavy inspiration from the Apache 200’s all-digital unit. A test mule of the upcoming scooter, equipped with fuel injection tech and front disc brake, has been spotted multiple times in the past.
The 125cc TVS Scooter has a top speed of 102 km/hr which will make it suitable for relaxed cruising speeds of 70-80 km/hr. With the addition of modern technology, our concern is with the price of the scooter as the target market is highly cost sensitive. TVS, currently the second largest scooter maker, primarily targets Hero MotoCorp with its offerings. The domestic automaker is also working on new electric scooters.
