After trailing behind the Hero Splendor for a month, the Honda Activa again leads the 10 top selling 2-wheelers in June 2018.
The 2-wheeler market has picked up the pace for some of the companies while for others, there’s a clear slowdown. The month of June 2018 has seen the Honda Activa regain the top spot. The scooter not only sold in higher numbers than the Hero Splendor but also saw an increase of 7% in its sales volume. The sales of ex-leader, the Splendor sees a decline of 1% which puts it in second position.
Hero has a total of four bikes in the 10 top selling 2-wheelers list for June 2018. Among these, only the Hero Passion model has witnessed an increase in its sales volume with a growth of 1% and is ranked fourth. The Hero HF Deluxe is ranked at number three but its sales reduced by 1% while the number of units sold for the Glamour model dropped considerably by 12% and sold only 63,417 units. In all, Hero motorcycles performed negatively.
Honda has their CB shine bike in the top 10. The bike is placed in fifth position but like a majority of others in this ranking, it too experienced reduced sales by 3%. The Bajaj Pulsar series has surprisingly picked up the pace again and sold a total of 71,593 units, an increase of 2% compared to the previous month. They are ranked sixth.
The TVS XL Super ranked seventh on the table and suffered a fall of 9% in sales at 66,791 units. There is also the TVS Jupiter, which has an increased demand of 3% compared to the previous month. The Jupiter sold 59,729 units but this doesn’t help it in relocating from the tenth position.
The Bajaj CT 100 and the Hero Glamour are placed eighth and ninth respectively. While the CT 100 rose by 3% and sold 66,314 units, the Glamour, as reported earlier saw the highest fall in sales at 12%.
One thing that you can infer from the table is that the top three ranked 2-wheelers, the Honda Activa, the Hero Splendor and the Hero HF Deluxe collectively sold much more than the bottom seven combined. This is a very interesting stat and is a testament to the fact how much we Indians pay attention to reliability, affordability and mileage factors.
