Skoda is gearing up to launch the Rapid facelift later this year and the vehicle will be getting some significant cosmetic tweaks.
While Volkswagen has been constantly launching updated versions of the Vento every now and then, Skoda likes to take things a bit easy. The Czech automaker is currently working on a facelifted version of the Rapid and the updated C-segment sedan is going to be launched during the festive season of 2016.
We recently caught the vehicle undergoing testing and what we could infer is the fact that it is going to come with a new bonnet, front bumper, headlights, fenders and grille. This body panels have been given a sharper design and thus the Rapid will now get a sharper fascia unlike the current model which is more of a curvy design.
The 2016 Skoda Rapid facelift will bear a lot of resemblance to the model that is sold in global markets. It will appear like a mini Octavia and buyers will surely like the new styling as well as the more mature looks. The interiors are also likely to get some tweaks and we can expect some new features to be added too.
The Skoda Rapid comes with the choice of 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The engine line-up is likely to remain the same but the oil-burner will get a small increase in power after a few months once the automaker starts using a local but larger turbocharger. The Rapid competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna.
