The 2015 Honda Aviator looks leaner than the outgoing version and will be part of the 9 pending new launches that the Japanese 2-wheeler company will be bringing to the country this year.
You read it first on MotorBeam. Honda India commenced this year with much fanfare launching the third generation Activa 3G along with a bunch of other updated motorcycles and scooters. With six of the proposed 15 products already launched, the Japanese manufacturer is now planning to bring the other nine in the country and part of this ensemble is the new generation Aviator that will hit the market later this year. Ahead of the official unveil, we give you a glimpse of the new scooter that sports a host of cosmetic changes for a fresh new appeal.
As seen in the image above, the 2015 Honda Aviator sports a new design language and a comprehensively revised front fascia but retains the tall and imposing look. The chrome finished garnish has been given a miss and is replaced with tall blinkers instead. The headlight cluster is also new and sports a curvaceous design that looks good. Moving to the side, the styling has seen a major update here and looks lean in appearance as compared to the bulky design of the outgoing model.
The side profile further gets a exposed tail section with the body being smartly contoured at the rear. The exposed bit helps the new multi-spoke alloy wheels gain prominence that look aggressive than the ones seen on the current model. In addition, the new Aviator gets new tail lights and the chunky grab rail has been replaced by a slender unit. Honda has retained the step-up seat from the outgoing version but with slight revisions mostly for better ergonomics.
In terms of power, the current 109.2cc air-cooled, 4-stroke engine will be retained that churns out 8 BHP at 7000 RPM and 8.77 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM, paired to a V-Matic transmission. The Aviator can do a top speed of 83 km/hr and returns a fuel efficiency figure of 60 km/l (as per Honda) with the Honda Eco Technology (HET) incorporated. The scooter also gets a front disc and rear drum with optional CBS for effective braking power. The new Aviator is likely to be launched in the second half of the year and could see a marginal increase in pricing for the new aesthetics. More details are expected to follow in the coming months.
