The 2015 Jetta gets subtle updates including mild changes to the exteriors and improved fit and finish to the interiors on the facelifted model.
Volkswagen India has commenced testing the 2015 Jetta sedan in India and the model was spotted testing for the first time by our reader Denzil Antony on the Mumbai-Pune expressway void of any camouflage. Revealing the exteriors and interiors completely, the updated Jetta gets subtle updates to the exteriors, while the interiors get kitted up with more equipment and updated powertrain. The Jetta facelift was first showcased at the 2014 New York Auto Show in April this year and is already on sale in the US.
Starting with the exteriors, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta facelift gets mildly updated and bold front grille inspired from the Passat, while the headlights feature bi-Xenon headlights and get integrated LED daytime running lights. The bumper has also been revised with larger air-intakes and redesigned foglights. At the rear, the 2015 Jetta gets updated Audi-esque tail lights with LEDs completing the look.
On the inside, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta facelift gets a new piano black finish, new flat bottom steering wheel, updated instrument cluster and a new touchscreen infotainment system. A lot of parts on the new Jetta comes from the Mk7 Golf and sport improved levels of fit and finish over the outgoing model. In terms of powertrain, the Jetta will continue to employ the same 1.4-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine options. Much like the US model, the India spec diesel is also likely to get a bump in power, now producing 150 PS.
While details on the launch have not been specified as yet, you can expect the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta to hit the showrooms by early-2015. The updated model will be competing against the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Elantra and the likes in the segment, while prices are expected to see a mild revision as well. The current Jetta starts at Rs. 13.21 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base TSI version.
