The recall affects only the petrol units of the Beat and have a possibility of accumulation of electrostatic discharge in nonconductive fuel pipe.

While General Motors issued a voluntary recall for the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV citing issues with the 1.3-litre diesel engine, the American auto giant has also silently issued a recall exercise for several units of the Chevrolet Beat petrol manufactured before 31st July, 2010 over possible concerns of accumulation of electronic discharge in the nonconductive fuel pipe. While the company announced the recall for the Enjoy publicly, GM has silently reached out to customers via letters to bring in their cars for checks, we got the letter recently.
GM has asked dealerships to get in touch with affected customers and schedule an appointment for inspecting the affected units of the Chevrolet Beat. At the time of inspection, if the service centre finds a potential problem with the vehicle, the same will be subjected to repairs or replacement of parts that will be done free of cost. The repairs are said to take couple of hours at the most, but could be delayed depending on the repair work and workshop traffic. The Chevrolet Beat petrol is powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 78 PS of power and 106 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. This year has been completely about recalls with General Motors globally. The company has been facing global scrutiny after the ignition switch defect came to light, also bringing out poor quality check management on the company’s part. The total number of recalled vehicles in 2014 grew to 12.8 million worldwide, 11.1 million of which were in the US.
